Pittsburgh Schaeffer Primary Celebrates Whale Done
In a special celebration on Tuesday, December 23, Pittsburgh Schaeffer students were rewarded by members of the community for their hard work and excellent behavior.
» Read the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Article The staff at Pittsburgh Schaeffer Primary has been utilizing the concept of “Whale Done” based on the principles of accentuating the positive. Schaeffer students have responded to this type of reinforcement with improved behavior and rising test scores.
“Whale Done” was developed by bestselling author Ken Blanchard. Whale trainers at Sea World told him, “You can’t get a 2,000 pound killer whale to jump 30 feet in the air by screaming at it!”
Community members, such as the Kiwanis Club, Gove Group, Walgreen’s, Starbucks, Radisson Hotel, Bethany Hospice and the Green Tree Times, are supporting the children’s success through donations of school materials and lots of gifts that put a smile on the face of every child. Local Girl Scouts are donating books, and seniors are knitting scarves for these children.
