Board Members Recognized for Service
The Pennsylvania School Boards Association has proclaimed January School Director Recognition Month. School Directors are elected locally and all serve without pay. Tonight Superintendent Mark Roosevelt recognized the District’s School Board Members for their service to the District, with the presentation of the book “Miss. Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten.” Each book contained a personalized bookplate recognizing Board Members for their commitment to students of the Pittsburgh Public Schools.
“We want to thank you for the countless numbers of hours you dedicate as Board Members to the children of the Pittsburgh Public Schools,” said Superintendent Roosevelt.”You make many decisions, all aimed at improving the life prospect of all District students. We particularly must recognize the courage you have shown in the face of difficult decisions.”
Every new student who registers for Kindergarten will receive a paper back copy of the book”Miss. Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten,” courtesy of Beginning with Books. Kindergarten registration in the District is Valentine’s week, February 9 -13, 2009 and in the spring from April 20-24, 2009.
