Pittsburgh CAPA Literary Arts Department presents 4th Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival on April 20th

The CAPA Literary Arts Department presents its Fourth Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival, entitled Steal This Festival, in a first-of-its-kind collaboration with the CAPA Theater Department. The junior literary arts majors are writing and directing eleven new and exciting ten-minute plays featuring the Theatre Departments’ sophomore and junior actors. (more…)

Theatre Department Coordinator at Pittsburgh CAPA directs an original musical set at the Kelly Strayhorne Theatre beginning Thursday

Mindy Rossi-Stabler, Theatre Department Coordinator at Pittsburgh CAPA, is directing an original musical set in Pittsburgh that opens Thursday, April 2 and runs through Sunday, April 5 at the Kelly Strayhorne Theatre in East Liberty. Pittsburgh CAPA’s own Paul Thompson is playing the show and Pittsburgh Rogers’ talented Christine Laitta is the lead. Music is by David Ed of Sewickley Academy. Cast members include Ted Watts, Jim Scriven, Christina McCann, and Leon Zionts (father of Alli and Dani Zionts). Hope you can come!

Nurse Juanita Hogan of Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 named 2009 School Nurse of Excellence

This award was given at the PASNP Annual Education Conference in State College, PA on March 20, 2009. Nurse Hogan was selected as the Western Pennsylvania Regional winner. The honor recognizes the outstanding work and service of one school nurse or nurse administrator to school children in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. (more…)

Pittsburgh Allderdice Students Pitch in to Clean Up Local Neighborhoods

Pittsburgh Allderdice High School students will be volunteering in conjunction with the Homewood YMCA to help clean up vacant lots and other designated areas on Tuesday, March 31. The volunteer program was designed and implemented by ninth-grade students in Ms. Traci L. Castro’s Civics: Be the Change classes.  More than 100 ninth grade students will be participating in this student-led volunteer project.  Students will meet at the Homewood YMCA, located at 7140 Bennet Street, to get their cleanup assignments. District to Provide Free Shuttle Service to Building Excellence: Blueprint for the Future City-wide Community Dialogue Scheduled for March 30

To make it easier for community members to attend its Building Excellence: Blueprint for the Future City-wide Community Dialogue, Pittsburgh Public Schools is offering free round-trip transportation from eight locations across the City. The city-wide dialogue scheduled for Monday, March 30 will take place at the IBEW Circuit Center located at 5 Hot Metal Street on the South Side from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (more…)

Building Excellence: Blueprint for the Future
