Pittsburgh Sunnyside K-8 Kites Raise Awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month
KidsVoice, a child advocacy agency who represents the abused and neglected children in Allegheny County partnered with 5th grade art students at Pittsburgh Sunnyside K-8 to help create 5,000 kites. The 5,000 kites represent the 5,000 children that are in danger in Allegheny County every year.
These kites will decorate the Carnegie Science Center during the month of April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, and will be the focus during KidsVoice’s annual community event.
The students in Mrs. Regina Butler’s and pre-service teacher Quinn Dwyer’s class created kites that depicted their own personal hero.
