As part of an on-going partnership with CitiParks, The Regional Extended Learning Camp at Pittsburgh Phillips has been working on mosaic projects with artist Steveo. Students in the kindergarten class worked on a special project, creating a picture of “Ready Freddy,” the district’s Kindergarten mascot. When the mosaic is complete in the next few weeks, it will be up on display at the Board of Education in Oakland. For more on Steveo’s work, visit Steveosphere.com. (more…)

At commencement ceremonies this past weekend ten exceptional students were awarded the Deputy Superintendent’s Yes, I CAN Award. The annual award recognizes graduating seniors who, through their hard work and determination, made the most significant academic improvement. (more…)

The Board approved the appointment of Kellie Abbott to Principal of Pittsburgh Peabody. As Lead Principal of PELA, Ms. Abbott managed the day to day workings of the PELA program, facilitated resident trainings and one on one coaching sessions. (more…)

Students at Pittsburgh Lincoln K-8 will be the first to experience the District’s new Culturally Responsive Arts Education (CRAE) program. The students will have the opportunity to work with three local teaching artists as part of the school’s Summer Regional Extended Learning Camp.
