Staff and students from Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8, along with The Heart of America FoundationĀ® and Target Volunteers, will celebrate the unveiling of its all-new school library. As part of the Target Volunteers School Library Makeover program, Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8′s library received a complete transformation this summer, including new books, eco-friendly design elements, furniture, shelving, carpet and reading corners. Tonight, the Board of Education approved Year Five Performance Goals for Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Mark Roosevelt. Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 students make use of new backpacks and supplies

On Tuesday, September 8th, the students of Pittsburgh Manchester PreK-8 participated in two activities that prepared them to undertake the new school year. First the students were able to select one of 300 backpacks crammed full of school supplies designed to facilitate homework. The backpacks and supplies were donated to the school by local volunteers. Secondly, the students viewed President Barack Obama’s National Address to America’s School Children together in the school’s gymnasium. Both opportunities helped the students focus on the important of education. (more…)
