Holocaust Survivor shares experience with Pittsburgh Peabody freshmen

English I students in the Pittsburgh Public Schools read Elie Wiesel’s Night, a nonfiction narrative of a Jewish teenager’s survival of the Holocaust. To complement this element of the curriculum and- most importantly- to further enlighten students’ sensibilities to inequity and injustice, Mr. Moshe Baran, a Nazi resistance fighter and survivor of the Holocaust, spoke to approximately 50 9th Graders at Peabody High School on Thursday, November 19. His accounts of peril and perseverance captivated our freshmen.100_1949

This event was organized by Carlton Heywood (Peabody/Westinghouse Librarian) and Robert E. Frioni (Peabody Curriculum Coach).
