Pittsburgh CAPA Students to be Featured This Weekend with Lynne Hayes Freeland Show
Pittsburgh CAPA students Ethan Butler and Thomas Countz will be featured along with author Sharon Flake on this weekend’s edition of the Lynne Hayes Freeland show. Both young men will present the lead poem from Flake’s new book, You Don’t Even Know Me.
On February 26, 2010, Ms. Flake will bring together 400 teenage boys, 200 from the Pittsburgh Public Schools, at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture to listen and discuss You Don’t Even Know Me. The book is a collection of short stories and poems about the unique experiences of young men.
The day will consist of Ms. Flake reading from the book, followed by breakout sessions on the select four topics: HIV/AIDS, suicide, developing healthy relationships and finding the authentic self.
Ethan and Thomas are among the Pittsburgh CAPA students who have been selected to perform poems from the book. The Lynne Hayes Freeland Show will air Saturday, February 6, 2010 on WPCW (the CW) and Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 6:30 a.m. on KDKA TV.
