District to Hold Community Forum to Discuss Recommendations for the Vann Facility

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 – 5:30-7:30 PM at Pittsburgh Milliones 6-12 – Pittsburgh Public Schools will hold a Community Forum to discuss the proposed closure of the Pittsburgh Vann facility before the start of the 2010-11 school year. Pittsburgh Vann was originally scheduled to close before the start of the 2008-09 school year.

In the spring of 2008 the District recommended to the Board of Education to keep the school open through June 2010. Approval of the plan to close Vann would mean that students currently attending Pittsburgh Vann K-5 would attend either Pittsburgh Miller K-5 or Pittsburgh Weil K-8 for the start of the 2010-11 school year.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 – 5:30-7:30 PM

WHERE: Pittsburgh Milliones 6-12, Cafeteria
3117 Centre Avenue, 15219

WHY: To provide additional information regarding the schools the students will be attending for the start of the 2010-11 school year as a result of the proposal to close the Vann facility.
