Pittsburgh Allderdice High School Students Excel in Competitions

PITTSBURGH March 22, 2010 – Students from Pittsburgh Allderdice High School recently put their knowledge to the test and won top honors in three regional competitions. Student teams took first place in two science competitions, the JETS (Junior Engineering and Technical Society) Teams Competition on March 11th, and the FIRST Robotics Competition held March 12-13th. Additionally, at the Regional Japanese Language Competition on March 8, three Pittsburgh Allderdice students took top honors. (more…)

Pittsburgh Oliver Junior places third at Youth & Scholastic National Judo Championship

Philanthropic Community Continues Support of District’s Work Awarding $1.7 Million Through Fund For Excellence

Since its establishment in 2006 the Fund for Excellence in the Pittsburgh Public Schools has awarded more than $11 million to the District in support of its work to improve student achievement and eliminate racial achievement disparities. Tonight that support continues as the Fund announced grant awards totaling approximately $1.7 million at this evening’s Board Agenda Review meeting, $1.5 million of which will support the District’s work to maximize teacher effectiveness.
