District’s Division of School Safety honored by City Council
The District’s Division of School Safety was honored by the Pittsburgh City Council on Tuesday, June 22 with two resolutions proclaiming June 22, 2010 to be “Division of School Safety Day” and “Teamwork Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.The first resolution came in honor of the Division’s continued efforst to provide a safe place for the City’s children to learn and grow. Special thanks were given to Chief Robert Fadzen for his leadership and passion to enhance school safety through training and education and also to Sector I Commander Kenneth Scott, III and Sector II Commander Lisetta Novicki for their dedication and service.
The second resolution was proclaimed to commend Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 student Chris Old and Head Custodian Dennis Lanahan for their quick thinking and Security Officer Alfonso Roberts for his bravery during an incident Pittsburgh CAPA in April 2010.
The resolutions were sponsored by Councilwoman Theresa Kail-Smith and co-sponsored by council members Darlene M. Harris, Rev. Kicky V. Burgess, Patrick Dowd, Bruce A. Kraus, R. Daniel Lavelle, William Peduto, Natalia Rudiak and Douglas Shields.
