Pittsburgh Banksville staff wears pink to keep the hope alive

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pittsburgh Banksville PreK-5 staff collected approximately $600.00 to donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Each staff member donated $30.00 to the foundation for the privilege to wear jeans each Friday for the remainder of the school year.  Students were also made aware of the staff’s efforts to support this cause in order to promote the positive character trait of compassion/giving. Pittsburgh Brashear Hosts 14th District Congressional Debate

As a part of the U.S. Election Assistance Mock Election Program, the League of Women Voters Greater Pittsburgh and Student Voices have partnered with the Pittsburgh Public Schools to host a debate for the 14th Congressional District on Wednesday, October 27 at Pittsburgh Brashear High School. Democratic candidate Mike Doyle, Republican candidate Melissa Haluszczak and Green Party candidate Ed Bortz will face off in front of District high school students, parents and community leaders. KDKA reporter Jon Delano will serve as moderator of the debate.

Pathways to the Promise Nights Kicked-Off on Thursday October 21!

Pittsburgh Public Schools and The Pittsburgh Promise held the first Pathways to the PromiseTM Night Thursday October 21 at Pittsburgh Obama. Families from 15 different schools across the city came to learn more about The Pittsburgh Promise, Promise-Readiness, and how they can support learning at home.
