CAS Expo of Excellence

On Wednesday, November 24, the Office of Gifted and Talented Education is sponsoring the ninth CAS Expo of Excellence at Duquesne University. This event allows many of our Centers for Advanced Studies (CAS) students to present their Long-Term Projects and gives new CAS students a chance to learn from their peers. Long-term projects are completed by CAS students during three of their four years of high school, and reflect a minimum of 30 hours of work outside the classroom.   (more…)

Allderdice High School advances to regional finals in DemandTec Retail Challenge

Anastasia Panova and Jason Weinberger from Pittsburgh Allderdice High School advanced to the Regional Finals this year in the DemandTec Retail Challenge.

The DemandTec Retail Challenge is an online math scholarship contest where high school seniors compete in teams of two to win a scholarship to further their education and a chance to partake in the Grand Championships held at NASDAQ in New York City. (more…)

Dateline Pittsburgh 11/20/2010: Citizens Bank is again partnering with Pittsburgh Public Schools, New Pittsburgh Courier, WPXI-TV and KISS-FM to host 10th annual “Expressions of Freedom” writing contest for Pittsburgh Public School students. A total of 24 winning entries will be selected, eight each from the elementary, middle and high school levels and will be awarded $100 savings bonds from Citizens Bank and a portion of their essays will be broadcast on WPXI-TV or KISS-FM throughout February in honor of Black History Month.
