Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 recognized Mr. Mark Brentley, Sr., Board Member of District 8 this morning with an assembly and recognition breakfast. Students performed two songs before Mr. Brentley was presented with a plaque of appreciation. Mr. Brentley then joined the members of the student council for a special breakfast. (more…)
On Wednesday, January 26th, Superintendent Linda Lane, Ed.D will be sworn in as Superintendent of the Pittsburgh Public Schools at the evening’s Legislative Meeting. The Honorable Judge Kim Clark of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas will conduct the ceremony.
Pittsburgh Steeler Hall of Fame member Franco Harris, Chairman of The Pittsburgh Promise, will be featured with Saleem Ghubril, Executive Director of The Pittsburgh Promise, and Promise Scholar Vanessa Thompson, were recently interviewed by Dr. Steve Perry of CNN’s “Perry’s Principles” for a special television and online segment that is currently scheduled to premiere this Thursday, Jan. 27 on AC360 at 11 p.m. (ET), and subsequently throughout next weekend on CNN and HLN. 7th and 8th grade students from Pittsburgh Faison 5-8 took a field trip to MSA Safety Company and took a tour of the company. Students learned about the history of mining, how the company has evolved from producing the first light for the helmet for miners to producing other safety equipment for companies and occupations all over the world. Pittsburgh Public School’s mascot, Owlbert Einstein, took part in Pittsburgh CitiPark’s annual mascot ice skating event on Saturday at Schenley Park with other Pittsburgh area mascots.
The Pittsburgh Public Schools All-City Senior Band and Choir Music Festival will be held to celebrate the amazing musical talents of District students this Thursday night at Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 at 7:00 p.m.
