Start on Success celebrates their 15th year providing students with internships

Over 100 people joined in the festivities to help celebrate Start on Success as it celebrates its fifteen year anniversary. Start on Success is a transition program that provides a coordinated, progressive series of activities and experiences over three years of high school to prepare youth with learning disabilities to successful careers or post secondary education or training. Pittsburgh Oliver students cheer on their teachers as they participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon

Pittsburgh Oliver High School teachers, English teacher, Derek Long and PSE teacher, Brice Hostutler, participated in this year’s Pittsburgh Marathon. Pittsburgh Oliver students cheered them on  at Allegheny Center Alliance Church and the Urban Impact Foundation Choir sang from 5:45 am to 11:00 am.  Delijah James, a senior, sang a duet, and VanNice Lee, joined in the choir.  In total there were 54 students who participated in the choir that morning. Pittsburgh Milliones students help to create community garden

On Saturday, May 21st Pittsburgh Milliones 6-12 students and teachers teamed up with community members & The Pennsylvania Conservancy to plant the gardens at the intersection of Herron & Centre Avenues in the Hill District. This is the 2nd year of volunteering from the school. The students introduced worms from their Biology unit into the gardens after studying their function as decomposers.
