Citizens Bank 12th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Expressions of Freedom Writing Contest Winners
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and to celebrate Black History Month in February 2013, Citizens Bank has partnered with the New Pittsburgh Courier, KISS-FM, WPXI-TV and the Pittsburgh Public Schools to sponsor the Twelfth Annual Expressions of Freedom writing contest for all students in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. This year students were asked to describe one of Dr. King’s character traits that inspires them and explain how they can apply that trait to their daily life.
A panel of local judges have selected 45 selections out approximately 1,000 entries. A list of winning students can be found below. Each winning student will receive:
- A gift card from Citizens Bank
- A chance to produce a portion of his/her essay and have it broadcast on KISS-FM or WPXI-TV
- A certificate of achievement presented at an awards ceremony where winners will be recognized in front of their parents/guardians, teachers, and contest sponsors among others
