Pittsburgh Banksville PreK-5 kicked off the new school year on September 1, 2010 with their “Lights, Camera, Learning in Action Premier Back to School Event.” Over 100 families attended giving the Banksville Staff the opportunity to meet, greet, and serve Pittsburgh Banksville families while giving back to the local community in an innovative way. District schools are on the move as 43 out of 60 (72%) achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) compared to 32 in 2009, 25 in 2008, and 22 in 2007. The District, after achieving AYP for the first time in its history last year, continued to see growth but just missed making AYP this year. The Board was presented a full report at tonight’s Education Committee Meeting on the Pittsburgh Public Schools 2010 PSSA exams and AYP.
