Get shots for next school year out of the way and enjoy the Summer! Immunize now and become eligible for a buy-one-get-one pass for County Pools this Summer.

The Allegheny County Health Department is holding a special free vaccination clinic on Tuesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., for children who need to get caught up with the vaccines that will be required when they return to school in the fall.

The clinic, to be held at the Health Department’s office at 3441 Forbes Avenue in Oakland, will provide free parking after 4:30 p.m. in the lot behind 3333 Forbes Avenue. No appointment is necessary and parents should bring their child’s vaccination records to the clinic. (more…)

There’s less than one week to go until the Pittsburgh Marathon and the Pittsburgh Promise runners have been training hard for the big day.  Thanks so much to all of you who have supported the Promise by making a contribution on our team website!  If you would like to make a contribution, you can still do so at http://www.firstgiving.com/pps. The team has exceeded the initial goal of $2,500 and is now aiming for $5,000.  UPMC will match $1.00 for every $1.50 that is contributed to The Pittsburgh Promise. WHAT: Pittsburgh Public Schools will hold a South Region Community Input Meeting as part of the District’s “Building Excellence” facilities planning process.
This meeting continues the District’s efforts to offer multiple opportunities for community input across all regions of the City. The Brookline Area Community Council will host the input meeting as a part of its regular monthly meeting. (more…)

Pittsburgh Grandview participated in the Pennies For Pasta Drive for the Leukemia Society for children in the month of February. This was our second year and we are pleased and proud to report a total of $877.00 this year. The students took this very seriously and did their best. The winning room raised $300.00 and will receive a free lunch from the Olive Garden.

The three winning entries will each receive up to $15,000 in grant funding to turn their ideas into action and help make a change in Pittsburgh.

A Meeting with Mrs. Claus Videoconferencing Event is being held Thursday and Friday, December 18. Mrs. Claus will be connecting via Santa Workshop Television (SWTV). She has received all of teachers and students’ wonderful letters about working hard in school everyday, and is looking forward to discussing them with you!

Award-winning children’s author brings a blast of the Antarctic to the third graders at Pittsburgh Concord, Pittsburgh Roosevelt and Pittsburgh Grandview. Students from all three schools had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Betty Tatham, author of “Penguin Chick,” a story in the third grade Treasures anthology. (more…)
