Free Clinic for School Vaccinations needed in the Fall

Get shots for next school year out of the way and enjoy the Summer! Immunize now and become eligible for a buy-one-get-one pass for County Pools this Summer.

The Allegheny County Health Department is holding a special free vaccination clinic on Tuesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., for children who need to get caught up with the vaccines that will be required when they return to school in the fall.

The clinic, to be held at the Health Department’s office at 3441 Forbes Avenue in Oakland, will provide free parking after 4:30 p.m. in the lot behind 3333 Forbes Avenue. No appointment is necessary and parents should bring their child’s vaccination records to the clinic. (more…)

Whole Foods Culinary Camp invites Pittsburgh Public Schools high school students June 21-25

There is an opportunity for PPS students to attend Culinary Camp, sponsored by Whole Foods, at the East Liberty market from June 21 through June 25, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students who are currently in the Culinary Arts program of CTE are the targeted audience, but all PPS high school students are eligible. Whole Foods Market’s Chef and Healthy Eating experts will inspire their imagination and encourage their creativity as they discover the secrets to amazingly tasty, healthy meals. At the end of the week, the students will be challenged by a Top Chef style cooking competition where participants will work in teams to create dishes that culminate in a paid apprenticiship in Whole Food’s kitchen (at age 18).
