East Region Advisory Committee Recommends Transforming Pittsburgh Westinghouse Into a Full Service 6-12 Comprehensive School

Recommends Establishing Two Single Gender Academies Within the Westinghouse Facility
Growing Pittsburgh Westinghouse High School into a 6-12 school, comprised of two single gender academies is the recommendation of the District’s East Region Advisory Committee. Although the Committee did not recommend the closure of any facility, it does recommend the redrawing of East End feeder patterns in order to serve secondary students in two facilities: Westinghouse and Milliones. The Committee’s recommendation will inform the District’s goal of presenting a plan that advances student achievement while ensuring the most efficient and effective use of facilities. The District anticipates presenting a plan to the Board by this summer. (more…)
